Breakfast in the room- get an early start!
Pack a backpack. Bottled water, trail mix, and fruit are great takealongs. Don’t forget to pack a picnic lunch!
You might want to dress in layers. Sometimes the difference in altitude can be chilly.
Head to Clingmans Dome. Even though the trail is paved and a little over a mile, don’t be fooled into thinking it’s easy! At the top, it’s 6643 feet- the highest point in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The summit will give you breathtaking views of the landscape and great photo opportunities. Check out the observation tower.
After a break, take in Andrews Bald Trail and Forney Ridge Trail, stopping for lunch in between. Both are moderate hikes.
Back to your hotel for a hot shower or a soak in the hot tub to soothe your muscles.
Dinner at the Cherokee Grill & Steakhouse for great steaks, burgers, or seafood.
Up and at ‘em! Have breakfast, get packed up and ready for another day.
How about checking out some waterfalls?
Take in Abrams Falls, the most scenic waterfall in the Smokies. The hike is a moderate 5.2 miles round trip.
Hike to Grotto Falls from the Trillium Gap Trail. You can actually walk behind the 25-foot high waterfall. Soak up the view-but be careful… the ground can be slick.
Break for lunch and then continue on for another 2 miles to the summit of Brushy Mountain, or 5.6 miles farther to the summit of Mount LeConte. You’ll find beautiful views at either one.
Back to the hotel for a shower or soak, then ready for dinner. Delauder’s BBQ tonight. Great prices, unfussy food, full bellies. All the barbeque staples.
Here we go again-Breakfast, pack, repeat!
Ready for a longer hike today? Take on the Cades Cove Loop. It’s an 11-mile long loop that’s full of scenery and wildlife. There are trails within the loop, so you could spend the entire day, depending on if you walk them as well.
Back to the hotel- dinner later. Check out the Park Grill. A little bit of everything for whatever you’re hungry for.
Same start, different day.
Take in the Little River Trail today, a scenic, near 5 mile up and back trail to round out your time in the Smokies. Very tranquil with a nice picture spot at the stone bridge.
Back to the hotel for a shower or soak, then wander down the Gatlinburg strip for some souvenir shopping and dinner at Best Italian on the Parkway for some pizza.
